In The Valley

The quickness with which the weather in the Rockies can change was surprising to me. One moment I was caught in a rainstorm, the next I was removing my coat, only to put it back on in the midst of a short but severe hail storm. And the scenes can change rapidly too. One second you are looking at a beautiful mountain scape and the next you may not be able to see fifty feet in front of you. I was driving through the park and passed this perfect v-shaped valley with these trees barely showing through the bottom of the fog. By the time I turned around and parked and walked to the middle of the V, the trees were completely shrouded. So I waited, and about forty-five minutes later they were back, like the torn strips of matches in an old matchbook.
