The beach is not a place that I have ever felt at home. The sand and the heat are not two of my favorite things, but the water, I think all human beings are attracted to water in one sense or another. It’s a life source and a color palette, it’s a play place and space of dark things lurking, and it provides sustenance and destruction. Destin, Florida is known for its emerald tinted waters and bright, white sand beaches, and this evening it reminded me of Rothko's paintings, natural gradients coming together on the horizon. A port view to a passing sea without the need for motion sickness medicine.
