Dandelion Study

Having just finished The Overstory by Richard Powers, I have become fascinated with the things going on right in front of us. How many times have we just blown the pods from a dandelion, making wishes, and watching them fly away. But here we can see so much more from the sharp ridges on the stems that help catch in sink the seeds upon landing, the hollow spaces from where the pods detach, and the incredibly long stem of the flower that gives each pod a Mary Poppins like umbrella in flight. Sometimes we don’t simply need to look down, sometimes we just need to look closer.
