Bulk Bailed Cotton, North Carolina

Bailed cotton or cotton fields in general have a real visceral yet beautiful appearance. It’s hard, if not impossible, to detach the history of the crop with the products it makes, even today…maybe especially today. Add to that the orange capped, commercial dumpster-sized, fog engulfed bails and it becomes something eerier and more subdued at the same time. A yin and yang quality sits there, unspoken, like Wes Anderson and M. Night Shyamalan co-directed the scene. Cue the nostalgic soundtrack.
