Wrightsville Beach Engagement Photos | Wilmington, NC | Melisa and Lee
What I took away from my time with Melisa and Lee, was the undeniable energy between these two. They just fit. They make eachother laugh and getting silly seems to be second nature and at the same time they are madly in love with one another that reminds me of a couple who have been together for 30 years - there is a comfort there that's just beautiful. I can't wait to see them let loose on their wedding day next year, that's gonna be a good one!
Romantic, Mountain Themed Styled Shoot | The Gathering | Boone, NC
In the city, my head is on a swivel as I try to take in everything around me (except when I am in New York, only because I know I'll look like such a kook of a tourist so I try to be sly as I pick my sights). But in the mountains, it's just simple beauty. Nothing more than what you see in front of you because you don't need anything more.
The Stockroom at 230 & The Glass Box | Triangle NACE | Wedding Styled Shoots
The twists, because what's a good competition without a few twists, were that you had an assigned theme (bohemian, sweet and romantic and high drama) and that you had 20 minutes to style the table with provided materials and then 10 minutes to style models around the table.
Moody Engagement Styled Photographs | Jordan Lake, Raleigh, NC | Heather and Trevor
Until this session, I had never shot for another photographer. Sure, I have had couples where one of them enjoyed photography or fancied themselves a hobbyist. But never a legit, full time photographer with a beautiful portfolio and full time gig.
Cascade Mountains Adventure Photo Session | Eugene, OR | Jed and Josh
In March I had the opportunity to go photograph and share some adventures with Jed and Josh in Oregon. We drove out to Bend to snowboard at Mt Bachelor, we drove out to Heceta Lighthouse on the coast and we drove around with the express desire to find some rad spots that you don't see in every photograph. I think we were pretty successful.
Warm Winter Wedding at the Merrimon-Wynne House | Raleigh, NC | Harper and Ben
The last wedding of the year, much like the first wedding of the year, really sets a tone. But unlike the first wedding of the year, the last one has multiple other weddings to fight over in my head. I've heard great speeches, seen beautiful first dances, laughed with some awesome families, shot in some exciting venues, witnessed first kisses that could make your knees weak and like Anthony Bourdain I'm always " hungry for more."
Decadent Knowlton Mansion Wedding | Philadelphia, PA | Stephanie and Andrew
I feel honored to photograph every wedding that I am at, but this was something special. Having that bit of history with Stephanie made that day and that ceremony that much more special to me. To see her and Andrew make each other laugh. To see them play with their little boy and the love they share for him. To see their first dance. And to see them spend time with their family and friends. It was awesome.
2015: A Photographic Year in Review
I am excited for 2016. A lot of great things will happen this year that are already on the calendar. Though I decided I am going to put some of the things I want to accomplish this year out in the open. This isn't so much a resolutions list as mush as it is a goals or wants list, just something to keep me churning and creating:
