WPPI 2016 | Desert Themed Fashion and Bridal Styled Shoot - Part 1 | Las Vegas, NV

Every year thousands of photographers descend upon Las Vegas for the annual WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) Convention. It is seven days filled with classes led by some of the most influential artists in the industry, a three day expo where we can learn about new products to offer our clients as well as new equipment to add to our lists and of course as wedding photographers who get to watch our clients let loose all year, there is plenty of time and opportunity to unwind and shake our own asses off.

What do photographers do to unwind, you ask? They make more photographs. This year, with the help of my good friend and amazing photographer Erin Costa, we planned a desert styled shoot combining both some fashion elements as well as bridal.

So after a 6 AM wake up call for hair and makeup by the lovely Stevee Danielle and a stop to pick up one of the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen thanks to Flora Couture, we tromped out into the desert with six of our dearest friends and our model Kristen.

It was such a beautiful day to be out and doing what we all love. We explored some of the ruins of Rhyolite, came upon a herd of wild burros, stood overlooking Death Valley as the 10-year Desert GOld bloom was in full swing and even as we were beginning to lose daylight and couldn't hike into the dunes (I may have made a huge oversight in not bringing food or water - whoops -, so we were all wiped by the end of the day) we found a way to make a rest stop work. Because what is one of our jobs on a wedding day: to sometimes take a room or a view that has distractions and make it less distracting and something serene.

It truly was a day I will never forget, and I am looking forward to seeing what adventures we get into next year.

Here is the desert inspired bridal portion of the day, I hope you enjoy them!

Thank you Kristen who put up with seven photographers all day, needless to say we could not have done any of this without her. And to everyone of you crazy souls that was out there and enjoying this day with us: Artemas Photography | Traci Arney Photography | Manuel Ortega Photography | Les Atkins Photography | Cindy Harter Photography ... Love you all!
